A sweet and spicy Peruvian pepper spread that can be enjoyed as-is, spread on a sandwich (jamón and Manchego grilled cheese) or as a component to a dip, aioli or dressing. Roasting the Peruvian piquillo peppers adds a nice balance of caramelized sweetness to the spicy jalapeño.
Crisp, tart pickles made from tiny gherkin cucumbers. The gherkin is a fruit similar in form and nutritional value to a cucumber. Gherkins and cucumbers belong to the same species but are different cultivar groups. They are usually picked when 4 to 8 cm in length and pickled in jars or cans with vinegar (often flavored with herbs, particularly dill; hence, dill pickle) or brine to resemble a pickled cucumber. The term can also be used to refer to the West Indian Burr Gherkin (Cucumis anguria), a related species, originally from West Africa and introduced to the West Indies, probably by the Portuguese. It is edible and may be pickled, but must be picked when no longer than 4 cm long, since it becomes bitter and spiny if allowed to grow larger.
Cannellini beans are large white beans, about 1/2 long, with a firm texture and skin and a nut-like flavor. Very popular in Italy, and especially Tuscany. Cannellini beans are mild in flavor and hold their shape well.
These medium sized capers are hand selected from caper bushes grown in the Mediterranean. Once the capers are picked they are salt packed in jars. Because they are packed in salt and not brine they have a bright vibrant true flavor. To use this item rinse thoroughly and mix into sauces and pesto.
Cento Lupini Beans are ready to eat right out of the jar. Simply rinse and pinch off the skin and eat as a snack, drizzle with Cento Extra Virgin Olive Oil, salt and pepper, or add to your favorite dish for an extra intake of fiber and antioxidants.
Our award-winning recipe (SOFI Awards) features classic flavors of Moroccan cooking: fruity pimento peppers, tart/floral preserved lemon and spicy chilies. Bold and intense, this spread lends itself to creating homemade aioli, dressings and more. We also love it baked atop shrimp or salmon.
