Our top grade of organic matcha is made from the first springtime harvest of tencha, savored for its umami sweetness, creamy taste and enlivening energy. Prepare Teahouse Matcha in the traditional, ceremonial manner called Cha No Yu using a tea bowl and a bamboo tea whisk.
The traditional cultivation of tencha requires shading the tea garden for 3-4 weeks prior to harvest. This elevates chlorophyll and enhances L-theanine and other stimulating amino acids responsible for matcha’s unique bounty of energy.
Tencha is made from tea strains specifically cultivated to be:
– low in tannin
– high in caffeine
– rich in flavor and umami.

Our English Breakfast highlights tea from the Chiang Dao region of Northern Thailand, where we source from some of the best Assamica variety tea gardens in the world. The high elevation garden we source from has premier tea plant genetic strains from Assam and Kenya, as well as local wild Thai tea trees that have been comingling and hybridizing for over six decades. The result is a lush and biodiverse growing environment with tea plants that are truly unique. Our English Breakfast has a rich red infusion color that is malty and robust with sweet fruity undertones and a brisk body that can stand up to milk and sugar. By comparison, our China Breakfast is intended to be more mellow, caramel-sweet and is designed to be smooth enough to drink straight up without milk and sugar.
Jasmine is China’s most famous scented tea. Jasmine trees first arrived in China from Persia during the Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD) by way of the ancient Silk Road. The sweet fragrance of jasmine tea can only be created in the traditional way, involving nine stages of scenting to deeply infuse the tea leaves with the aroma of fresh jasmine petals.
Matcha Super Green is named for its vivid emerald green infusion and bountiful natural energy provided by pure Japanese matcha. This signature Rishi flavor combines organic sencha and organic stone-ground matcha green teas grown in the fertile volcanic soils in southern Japan’s Kyushu region.
Masala Chai is a spiced tea beverage with roots in ancient India, where traditional spice blends known as karha were mixed with black tea, milk and sugar. Rishi’s famously spicy Masala Chai is balanced and energizing when brewed either straight up or in the classic way with milk and sugar to taste.
